Sithonia, known for the beautiful beaches, clear blue waters, extensive vineyards, green pine forests and fantastic views!
Because it’s located in the middle of the peninsulas, you can enjoy a beautiful sunrise over Mount Athos and a beautiful sunset over Kassandra.

The history of Sithonia starts 3000 years B.C. and is according to the mythology named after Sithon the King of Macedonia and son of Poseidon and Ossa.
He had one daughter named Pallene, who was known for her dazzling beauty. Sithon killed everyone who asked for her hand, until Pallene fell in love with Cleites and got secretly married. When her father passed away, Cleitis, her husband became the new king of Macedonia.

With a distance of one and a half hour, you can visit Sithonia easily in one day. Today I will share my favorite spots with you!

Nikiti

A cozy and touristic village that has been divided in two! Enjoy the lovely beach with taverns, shops and beach bars at the seashore. When you go into the old village you will find the historical center with traditional houses and small streets. Standing on top of the hill, is Agios Nikitas, church dated from 1870.
Do you like to stroll around the local market? Every Friday morning there is a market in Nikiti.

Parthenonas

This traditional village is located above Neos Marmaras. The signs will show you the way and once you are up, you will be surprised with the beautiful view over the peninsula Kassandra.
Parthenonas is a village with traditional architecture. Typical are the gardens attached to the houses with their own vegetables.
If you are looking for a traditional souvenir, take a look at the small shop on the way to Paul’s tavern.
All the souvenirs are handmade from all over Greece!

Porto Koufu

Porto Koufu is located in an almost enclosed bay that makes one of the largest natural harbors in Greece. In the past it was used by Turkish pirate ships to hide themselves and during the 2nd World War it was used by the German submarines. Now a days it is a port with yachts, fishing boats and boat rental.
In the area you will find caves and hidden beaches.
Porto Koufu doesn’t have a center, but in the harbor you will find nice taverns for a great lunch with a beautiful view.

Vourvourou

The area around Vourvourou is also called Blue Lagoon! The combination of white sand and the shallow depth allows the water to have a very light blue color! In front of the shore there are nine small islands. Vourvourou is the perfect spot for kayaking, snorkeling or to rent a boat to discover the hidden beaches.
This beautiful area is also perfect for hikers, it is surrounded with pine trees!
