Did you know that you can easily combine your visit to Thessaloniki with a day at the beach? A good idea for when you spend some days in town but would like a day of complete relaxation. From May until September you can take a daily boat towards the seaside resorts Peraia and Nei Epivates.
Peraia
Peraia is a cozy seaside resort that is opened 365 days a year. At the coastline you find taverns, enjoyable bars/beach bars, and at the pier you can see the fishermen catching their fish. Peraia is a traditional Greek town. A lot of families live there. Every Monday there is a local market, and, in the afternoon, there is a siesta (On Mondays and Wednesdays the local shops are only open throughout the morning, on Sundays they are closed)
The beach slowly gets deeper so it is convenient for everyone! There are free showers and the taverns at the boulevard even reach until the sandy beach. This way you enjoy your lunch and your drink right at the beach!
How to get there?
By boat: The water taxis have their boarding points at the harbour and the White Tower. A ticket costs €3,50 per journey and it takes about 50 minutes to cross.
